Matt Schilling began rowing in Alexandria in the summer of 2005. In the spring of 2010, he was named captain of the rowing team at TC Williams. After a five year high school rowing career which included racing at St. Catharine's in Canada, Matt began his collegiate rowing career at the University of Virginia. At Virginia, Matt raced in several boats including the 1st Freshman 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, 1st Varsity 4+, 1st Varsity 8+, and even a pair. Matt's high school rowing brought lots of individual awards and achievements, but college rowing brought him a lot more medals, including two second place finishes and one third place finish at the ACRA National Championship. In this nine year career, Matt has traveled to Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Oak Ridge Tennessee, Saratoga Springs New York, Gainesville Georgia, Allendale Michigan, Cherry Hill New Jersey, Chattanooga Tennessee, St. Catharine's Canada, Boston Massachusetts, and Henley England.
